Choose Live or Preview
Use the Softr-provided Live subdomain shown in Studio or a custom-domain Live app for release review, or generate a shareable preview link and select the user state for pre-publication review.
Paste the Live app URL or an accessible shareable preview link, send one review link, and collect contextual comments on the experience under review.

Softr separates Staging, Preview and Live, then applies authentication, user groups and page visibility to the app experience.
Four documented boundaries matter before review:
Softr’s publishing guide says the randomized app is first published to a private Staging environment, while publishing to Live and sharing its link makes the app visible on the web.
Softr Preview can show the app as selected users, create a shareable preview link, and switch among device sizes before the Live release.
After the app is published, changes to content, settings or the domain need to be published again before they take effect on the Live version.
Softr can enable email, one-time-code, Google and SSO authentication, while page and data permissions can restrict what user groups see. A pasted URL does not bypass those rules.
How it works
Use the Softr-provided Live subdomain shown in Studio or a custom-domain Live app for release review, or generate a shareable preview link and select the user state for pre-publication review.
Paste the accessible URL into BugSmash and share the generated review link with the client, product or QA team.
Apply approved changes in Softr, publish them to Live again, and verify the relevant user group and device state.
Attach feedback to the page and interface location the user is actually navigating.
Use Softr’s preview link when stakeholders need to see changes before the Live release.
Choose the intended Softr preview user or authenticate as an authorized user before reviewing a gated experience.
Review desktop, tablet and mobile presentation while retaining the viewport with each comment.
Keep the page URL, browser, operating system, viewport and screenshot with each website comment.
Authentication, page visibility, user groups and data restrictions continue to control what the reviewer can see and do.
Use the Softr-provided Live subdomain shown in Studio, a connected custom domain or Softr’s shareable preview link. Current Softr documentation contains both softr.io and softr.app hosted-domain examples. A pasted URL does not bypass authentication, SSO or user-group permissions.
| Your URL | Review by URL | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Softr-provided Live subdomain | Works | Use the exact public Live subdomain shown in Softr Studio; official documentation currently includes softr.io and softr.app examples. |
| Connected Softr custom domain or subdomain | Works when connected | Use the Live custom domain after DNS is connected, SSL is installed and the app is published. |
| Softr shareable preview link | Works when shared | Generate the preview link and confirm the selected user state before sending it. |
| Private Staging environment without a preview link | Owner-only | Create a shareable preview link or publish the intended version to Live. |
| Logged-in or user-group-restricted page | Authentication required | Use the Feedback Widget on the page after Softr authenticates the reviewer. A Website-project review URL does not grant user-group access. |
| SAML or OpenID SSO-only app | SSO-dependent | Use the Feedback Widget on the page after Softr completes SSO. A Website-project review URL does not bypass SSO. |
Add the BugSmash Feedback Widget when review must stay inside an authenticated, SSO-controlled, personalized or stateful Softr experience. Softr permissions remain authoritative.
From user-specific previews to Live app sign-off, keep product teams, operations teams and clients aligned on the same Softr experience.

Review user-specific dashboards and workflows while Softr continues to control authentication and data permissions.
